So, does a apple a day, really keep the Dr. away?

Apparently so....
read below (as she takes a big bit outta her granny smith apple...yummmmy)

Bone Protection
French researchers found that a flavanoid called phloridzin that is found only in apples may protect post-menopausal women from osteoporosis and may also increase bone density. Boron, another ingredient in apples, also strengthens bones.
Asthma Help
One recent study shows that children with asthma who drank apple juice on a daily basis suffered from less wheezing than children who drank apple juice only once per month. Another study showed that children born to women who eat a lot of apples during pregnancy have lower rates of asthma than children whose mothers ate few apples.
Alzheimer's Prevention
A study on mice at Cornell University found that the quercetin in apples may protect brain cells from the kind of free radical damage that may lead to Alzheimer's disease.
Lower Cholesterol
The pectin in apples lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol. People who eat two apples per day may lower their cholesterol by as much as 16 percent.
Lung Cancer Prevention
According to a study of 10,000 people, those who ate the most apples had a 50 percent lower risk of developing lung cancer. Researchers believe this is due to the high levels of the flavonoids quercetin and naringin in apples.
Breast Cancer Prevention
A Cornell University study found that rats who ate one apple per day reduced their risk of breast cancer by 17 percent. Rats fed three apples per day reduced their risk by 39 percent and those fed six apples per day reduced their risk by 44 percent.
Colon Cancer Prevention
One study found that rats fed an extract from apple skins had a 43 percent lower risk of colon cancer. Other research shows that the pectin in apples reduces the risk of colon cancer and helps maintain a healthy digestive tract.
Liver Cancer Prevention
Research found that rats fed an extract from apple skins had a 57 percent lower risk of liver cancer.
Diabetes Management
The pectin in apples supplies galacturonic acid to the body which lowers the body's need for insulin and may help in the management of diabetes.
Weight Loss
A Brazilian study found that women who ate three apples or pears per day lost more weight while dieting than women who did not eat fruit while dieting.

RIP Isaacs

Gregory Isaacs Dead At 59

Reggae singer was known as the 'Cool Ruler.'

The "Cool Ruler" has died. Reggae great Gregory Isaacs, who earned that chilled-out honorific thanks to his natty dress and emphasis on romantic, yearning tunes, died at the age of 59 at his home in London following a yearlong battle with lung cancer, according to BBC News.
Isaacs, best known for his bubbling 1982 hit "Night Nurse," gained his nickname as a result of his 1978 album, Cool Ruler, on which he perfected the reggae style known as "lover's rock," a swaying, bouncy sound that mixed the insistent thrum and downbeat of the Jamaican islands with a 1950s R&B crooner-style vocal.
"Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed," his wife Linda said in a statement.
Though his recorded persona was that of a sensitive, often heartbroken man, a Los Angeles Times obituary noted that Isaacs was blocked from taking up the mantle of the late Bob Marley as the next international reggae star as a result of his outlaw "rude boy" persona, which resulted in dozens of arrests over the years on drug and gun charges, as well as a serious cocaine addiction.
Isaacs, born in Kingston, Jamaica, on July 15, 1951, loved listening to American R&B singers such as Sam Cooke and Smokey Robinson on the radio as a child and began making a name for himself as a teenager in the 1960s, performing at talent contests and with other vocalists before going solo in 1970.
After a string of self-released albums and singles on his own African Museum label, he finally hit pay dirt with 1973's "My Only Lover," widely considered the first lover's rock tune. Like so many of his hits, it showcased his sensual, smooth tenor and kicked off a decade-plus run of chart-toppers that peaked in 1982 with the seductive "Night Nurse," recorded at Marley's Tuff Gong studios. In addition to his entrancing high and longing vocals, Isaacs used urgent moans and groans as the signature punctuation on some of his most beloved songs.
In keeping with his outlaw image, Isaacs was unable to celebrate the hit because he was serving a six-month prison sentence in Jamaica for unlicensed handgun possession. "I'd say he's one of the three geniuses I've known in the reggae music business, and I've known everyone," said Gary Himelfarb, who released several Isaacs albums on his label, RAS Records, in the 1990s.
"Gregory was the kind of person who could walk through a room of 20 people and come out the other side and tell you what everybody was wearing," added Himelfarb, known professionally as Dr. Dread. "He could sit at a piano and compose incredible tunes. He was really brilliant. He was on a whole other level than your typical Jamaican artist."
While the combination of his legal troubles and the ravages of drugs on his subtle voice contributed to his unreliability, Isaacs nonetheless became an inspiration to a new generation of reggae stars through his combination of lover's rock and more politically charged tunes, such as "Black Liberation Struggle."
Son and fellow reggae singer Kevin Isaacs, who appeared on the joint 2000 album Father and Son, tweeted a tribute to his dad Sunday night, writing, "R.I.P Dad, you're a great father to me and my Idol. That's all I can say for now, I'm hurt. My dad just died. Give thanks to all his supporters."
Though he was said to have recorded 500 albums in his career, the Times said Isaacs put the number at closer to 200. His final album was 2008's Brand New Me for the African Museum label.

Did you wear PURPLE today?

Spirit Day 10/20
NEW YORK, NY - Millions of Americans joined the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Oct. 20 in wearing purple in recognition of 'Spirit Day' and to show support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth.
Spirit Day now counts millions of Americans committed on Facebook to wearing the color purple on October 20, 2010, to remember youth lost to anti-LGBT bullying. Hundreds of thousands of Americans also 'went purple' by changing their Facebook and Twitter photos to purple at http://www.glaad.org/spiritday.
Hosts of CNBC, E! News, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Joy Behar Show, MSNBC, The Talk, The Today Show, and The View all participated by wearing purple on the air today. In addition, E!, People en Español and TooFab.com joined the campaign online today.
Celebrities also joined the campaign by changing their Twitter and Facebook profile photos to purple using GLAAD's free application at http://www.glaad.org/SpiritDay or by announcing they were wearing purple online, including Clay Aiken, Lance Bass, Christian Chavez, Kristin Chenoweth, Wilson Cruz, the Dixie Chicks, Kathy Griffin, Darren Hayes, Perez Hilton, Khloe Kardashian, Cyndi Lauper, Jay Manuel, Ricky Martin, Alyssa Milano, Corey Monteith, Amber Riley, Joan Rivers, Paulina Rubio, Ryan Seacrest, Tegan and Sara, Tracy Thoms, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kate Walsh, Johnny Weir, Chely Wright, and  Jill Zarin.
"E! News" anchors Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic, along with "E! News Now" anchors Amy Paffrath and Melana Scantlin, will wear purple on the air today. E! Online will also participate in Spirit Day by making all of its story headlines and breaking news banners purple throughout the day and posting a photo gallery of celebrities wearing purple in support of the cause.  Employees of Comcast Entertainment Group (E!, Style Network and G4) have also been encouraged to wear purple. Logo, the first LGBT network, featured a purple ribbon on its programs today and encourages employees to wear purple as well.
MTV Networks (MTV, Nickelodeon, Vh1, Comedy Central, Spike, etc.) confirmed with GLAAD that a memo was distributed to all employees with information about Spirit Day and MTV will also be giving out thousands of purple ribbons to staff.
Joel Burns, the Fort Worth, Texas, councilman joined host Ellen DeGeneres in wearing purple on The Ellen DeGeneres Show during his appearance today.  GLAAD provided media relations assistance and interview preparation after his City Council speech regarding bullying became a viral YouTube phenomenon.
"By wearing purple online and offline today, millions of Americans are sending an important message to let gay and lesbian youth know that they are supported for being exactly who they are," said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios.
Logo will be airing a purple ribbon all day,  and network staff is also wearing purple. Logo  traded its trademark pink on its Twitter account.
Several local and national organizations have also signed on to support Spirit Day, including Equality California, Equality Illinois, Equality New Mexico, Equality Pennsylvania, Equality Texas, Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) Network, Georgia Equality, Give a Damn Project, Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Indiana Equality, Make it Better Project, MassEquality, Michigan Equality, National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), Trevor Project, the United Church of Christ, and Vermont Freedom to Marry. LGBT bloggers including Bil Browning, Joe Jervis, Jeremy Hooper,  and Zack Ford and sites including On Top Magazine, the Seattle Lesbian, AfterEllen and AfterElton have also participated.
Spirit Day was first developed by teenager Brittany McMillan and inspired the creation of several Facebook event pages, including "R.I.P. ;; In memory of the recent suicides due to gay abuse, wear purple" which now has over 1 million supporters. After being alerted to violent and hateful anti-gay comments on the page, GLAAD worked with Facebook to remove the comments and confirmed that Facebook will take new measures to respond more quickly to homophobic posts.

10 Steps to Flawless Makeup

Hey Viewers, I was online (as usual) and read this article, and decided to share...so ENJOY your read ^_^

Applying flawless makeup can be quick and easy if you know the proper steps and techniques. These are ten steps to make to a flawless looking face. They are quick, and many steps take under one minute, so you can complete your total look in less than ten minutes. Let's get started!

Concealer helps hide imperfections (redness, under eye circles, acne) and make them nearly invisible. Pick a shade as close to your natural skin color as possible. Dab on lightly and blend outward, feathering the edges so that you do not have a straight line across your face.

Foundation does not have to be applied over your whole face - just where you want to even out the color. Pick a shade that matches your jaw line. That way your face will not be a different shade than your neck, which is very unnatural looking!

Loose powder applied all over your face helps to set your makeup so that it lasts longer and stays where you put it.

Blush gives you a healthy glow. It should be applied to the apples of your cheeks and drawn outward just a little (to find your cheek's "apples" just smile. The part of your cheek above your smile and below your eyes is the apple of your cheek).

Eye shadow is important to bring out your eyes. It can help disguise many features - close set eyes, wide set eyes, tired eyes, etc. Using the right colors can really bring attention to your eyes. Place a light base shade over your lids and a darker color along the crease line. An even lighter shade can go along the brow bone to highlight the area. If your eyes are close set, place the darker color on the outer two-thirds of your eye only to help draw them apart.

Eye liner helps to add definition to your eyes. Black or dark brown liner works well on practically everyone. Just lining the top lid will make your eyes look larger. Line the bottom along your lashes for a more dramatic look.

Mascara is next. Turn the mascara wand vertically and brush just the tips of your lashes before turning the wand and sweeping your lashes from the base to tips. This will make your lashes appear longer. Also, if you curl your lashes, do it three times - once at the base, once in the middle and once near the tips. This will give you a better and longer lasting curl.

Brow color: This is often overlooked. Although it is simple, and adds barely-there color, it makes a definite impact on your overall look. Just make sure to pick a color as close to your natural color as possible, and use light, short strokes to apply.

Lip liner adds definition to your lips and helps stop your lipstick from feathering. For a more natural look, match the lip liner to your lips - not your lipstick. If you line your lips and then fill in the lines with lip liner before your apply your lipstick, your lipstick will last longer.

Lipstick finishes the look. The color you choose here can influence your whole look. Go neutral or light for a natural or romantic look, or darker and brighter foe a more dramatic look.
These steps can be customized for different looks. You can go from a natural or professional look using matte shades to a romantic or dramatic look using darker or frosted shades. You only need to change the intensity of the colors to change the mood.

Remembrance

October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.  This week we remember all the babies born sleeping or whom we have carried, but never met.  Those we have held, but could not take home, or the ones that came home, but didn't stay.

Analogy

My bestie has told me since day 1 that she loves my analogies...on everything
I think mainly on guys
I know she's prolly waiting on this post just so she can <3 it lol....but before i start, please let me explain, that this was my thoughts at 18...with that being said, here yuh go:

GUYS are like SHOPPING!-yes, shopping.
For instance...you see an outfit that you want...you are either going to A) try it on, and if it fits 'right'...purchase it...or B) purchase it and take it home...praying it fits
^^ now, chances are if you don't 'try it on'...you're gonna end up returning it the very next day
Same thing with guys...i believe you need to 'feel out' guys in order to start 'talking' (when i mean 'talking', i don't mean dating)...if you just rush into something without getting to know them, chances are...it's not going to work out

14 DAY RETURN POLICY
I always give a guy a 2 week trail...to get to know 'him'...no kissing, no sleeping with...just 'getting to know him'...if I not satisfied...RETURN.

AFTER 14 DAYS....
Trade in for a store credit  ~_^ ....'it's just clothes'...no need to get attached, shed tears, or be miserable...and this applies if you remove the tag
(i'm rly hoping you guys are following me ~_^)

My thoughts have of course changed within time....
i only have 1 RULE:
I DON'T WASTE MY TIME!
yup yup^^

WOW!

How smart were you at 21???

12 Things I wish I'd known about love when I was 21:
1. Never underestimate the importance of being interesting
2. There's a fine line between teasing a guy and criticizing him
3. Your wants and needs are just as important as his
4. Knowing how to cook ::helpful::
5. Sometimes guys flirt with you because it makes them feel good about themselves
6. You will probably never fully understand men, so just try to understand yourself
7. It's shocking how much men will talk about marriage
8. Don't be cynical
9. Things change once you're naked
10. Being worshiped isn't all that
11. We see what we want to see (and ignore the bad signs)
12. Don't compare yourself with your friends

2-he gives me all the attention i want, plus some
3-he nvr makes me feel neglected...even if he is 'neglecting' me

~he brings me medicine when i don't feel well, and overall, just takes rly good care of me.. (i'm thankful for having such a good man in my life...this is the first time in my life that i can honestly say....'i hope it works out...because i don't want/need anyone else')....he is everything and more than i could ever wish for...
